Dorothy Jean Adams, 77, of Grand Ridge, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Jackson Hospital.
A native of the Shady Grove community in Grand Ridge, Mrs. Adams was born in Jackson County. After graduating from Grand Ridge High School, she worked for the telephone company in Tallahassee. In 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Royce H. Adams, who then joined the United States Air Force. During their life together, they resided in Savannah, Georgia, the Canal Zone in the country of Panama, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Panama City, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce H. Adams; her father, Mr. Charles “Charlie” Clifford Robbirds; her mother, Mrs. Essie Louise Robbirds; and her brothers, Mr. Roy Clifford Robbirds and Mr. Charles Clayton Robbirds.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Jan Lambert, of Shady Grove, FL; her brother, Mr. James L. “Woody” Robbirds, of Sneads, FL; her son, Mr. Charles D. Adams, of Navarre, FL; her daughter, Mrs. V. Debra Saphire, of Dearborn, MO; her daughter, Sandi R. Adkins, of Sneads, FL; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, at 12 pm on Saturday, January 18, with Pastor Gary Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home directing.
