FROM THE CALHOUN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
On April 10, 2014 at approximately 7:00 PM the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office, along with Emergency Medical Services, responded to a shooting at the home of Jackie Reagan Jr. located at 19041 NE JW Alexander Road in Altha, Florida. It was discovered that the brother of the homeowner, Jamie Reagan, came over to Jackie’s house uninvited. Witnesses report that Jamie was drinking and got out of his vehicle with a beer bottle in hand. A verbal altercation ensued in which Jamie was asked to leave the property several times. The altercation became heated. Jamie refused to leave and the altercation became physical. Jackie subsequently fired two warning shots. However, Jamie continued to show aggression. Jackie then shot Jamie in the leg with the semi-automatic handgun. He was subsequently flown to Bay Medical Center.
Jackie Reagan was taken to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office where he provided a statement. No charges have been filed at this time. Calhoun County Sheriffs Office will be reviewing the case with the State Attorney’s Office in an effort to determine if charges are appropriate or if the case falls under the protection of the Florida Stand Your Ground Law.
