Billy Joe Tipton, age 78, of Clarksville, Florida passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Blountstown, Florida. He was born July 17, 1936 in Clarksville to the late John Alto Lee and Eva Mae (Wood) Tipton. Billy was a lifelong resident of Clarksville and was retired from the Calhoun County Road Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Clarence Eugene Tipton, John Henry Tipton and Alto Lee Tipton, Jr.; and a sister, Frances Aline Abbott. Survivors include his children, Ricky Tipton and his wife, Kay of Blountstown, Kathy Chapman and her husband, Wayne (Cobb) of Clarksville, Terri Platts, also of Clarksville, and Shana Morris and her husband, Scott of Bristol, Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas Tipton of Virginia, Kelley Chapman of Clarksville, Nichole Tipton of Blountstown, Brittany Worth of Washington, Alexander and Artavious Platts of Clarksville; great-grandchildren, Kayson, Garrett, Tanner, Grayson, and Clent; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Tipton of Savannah, Georgia and Dorothy Tipton of Clarksville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home, 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Shiloh Cemetery near Altha, Florida. Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
