Willie Joe Summerlin, age 66, of Telogia, Florida passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 in Tallahassee, Florida. Willie Joe was born July 10, 1948 in Grand Ridge, Florida to Luther A. and Nora Lee (Harris) Summerlin. He served his country in the United States Army First Air Calvary and was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service in the military, he came back to Telogia and worked as a small engine mechanic. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther A. Summerlin. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Martha Ann (Stanley) Summerlin of Telogia; his son, William E. Summerlin also of Telogia; two grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Summerlin and Angelica Marie Summerlin; his mother, Nora Lee (Harris) Summerlin of Telogia; three brothers, David Summerlin and his wife, Pat, Paul Summerlin, and Silas Summerlin and his wife, Suzie, all of Telogia; two sisters, Nora Ann Campbell and her husband, Steve and Ruby Dobbs and her husband, Sammy, both of Telogia; a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 ET, Wednesday, October 15 at Adams Funeral Home in Bristol, Florida. Family and friends will gather for the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, October 16, at Summerlin Family Cemetery in Telogia with Reverend Buddy Elkins officiating.
