Betty Herndon, age 83, of Longwood, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in Longwood. Betty was born November 28, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles H. and Beatrice Fehrman (Barto) Bock. Betty was a retired teacher and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Florida. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Benjamin Herndon; her son, Mark Herndon and her daughter, Debra Lynn Gilcrest. Survivors include her son, John Charles Herndon of Altamonte Springs, Florida; her daughter, Sandra Louise Kowalczyk and her husband, Ed of Brandon, Florida; grandchildren, Kimberly Anne Bush, John David Herndon, Laura Ann Landon, Lindsey Renee Andrews, Logan Elizabeth Isom, Edward J. Kowalczyk III, Matthew Benjamin Kowalczyk, and Amy Louise Vastine; great-grandchildren, Hannah Louise Kowalczyk, Briana Louise Kowalczyk, Aiden Pierce Vastine, Edward John (Jack) Kowalczyk IV, Jonathan Hayes Bush, Gwendolyn Marie Herndon, and Milan Ray Stefanik. The family will receive friends from noon-1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown, Florida. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Reverend John Marvin Nichols officiating. Interment will be in Herndon Cemetery in Clarksville, Florida.
