Richard Brinson White, age 83, of Apalachicola passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Tallahassee. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, December 17, 1931, Richard was the son of the late Grover Cleveland White and Sadie Odelle (Smith) White. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and later retired from Florida Power Company as an electrical engineer. He touched many people in the community through his service in Lions Club and American Legion and was also very active in Apalachicola First Baptist Church where he was President of the church, taught Sunday school for many years, served as chairman of the deacons, and served several years as deacon. Other than his parents, Grover Cleveland and Sadie Odelle White, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth (Cox) White; his brother, Grover Cleveland “Duke” White, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth White Jacobs. Survivors include two sons, Richard Wayne White of Apalachicola and Randall White of Tallahassee; his daughter, Debbie White and her fiance, Gary Ballard of Tallahassee; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, November 15, at Apalachicola First Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Plazarin and Reverend Hubert Six officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, 46 Ninth Street, Apalachicola, FL 32320. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
