Mr. Johnny Charles Whitehead, 81, of Altha, Florida, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 4, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Whitehead was born in Jackson County, Florida, and had lived and worked in Altha all of his life. He served our country proudly during the Korean Conflict as an enlisted man with the United States Army. Mr. Whitehead was self-employed as a repairman. He was a member of the Altha Church of God in Altha, Florida, and was a member of the Gideon Society.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lucille Varnum Whitehead, and one sister, Gladys Dennis.
He will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Alene Ray Whitehead, of Altha; two daughters, Debra Guyler and her husband, Steve, of Dunnellon, FL, and Charlene Yon and her husband, Anthony, of Altha; one sister, Mildred Edenfield of Altha; one aunt, Nettie John Deese, of Marianna; seven grandchildren, Sara and Vinny Milotta, Jennifer Goodson, Ashton and Richard Chancey, Brianna Yon, and Jay Yon; two great-grandchildren, Dominic Milotta and Cambreigh Chancey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, at 10:00 (CDT) at the Altha Church of God in Altha with the Reverend Allan Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Chipola Cemetery in Altha. The family will receive friends Friday, July 6, at Altha Church of God from 6:00 until 8:00 pm (CDT).
