Donald Ray “Butch”Tharpe of Hosford, Florida passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the age of 58. He was a lifelong resident of Hosford and was owner/operator of D&D Timber. He attended Christian Lighthouse Church in Telogia, Florida. He was preceded in death by his dad, Olin Tharpe.

He is survived by his wife, Delores (Pullam) Tharpe; a son, Chris Donald Tharpe and his wife Stacie, of Hosford; daughters, Nicole Thomas and her husband, Jamie, of Hosford and Brenda Hodge and her husband, Robert, of Bristol, Florida; five grandchildren, Cailin, Colton, Waylon, Mayci, and Chloe; his mother, Mildred Castleberry, of Hosford; three brothers, Donnie Tharpe of Altha, Florida, Ronnie Tharpe of Marianna, Florida, and Hubert Tharpe of Hosford; and a sister, Debra Sewell, also of Hosford.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. EDT, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Christian Lighthouse Church in Telogia, Florida with Reverend Rabon Haney and Reverend Buddy Elkins officiating. Interment will follow at Wesleyan Cemetery in Hosford. The family will receive friends 3:00-5:00 p.m. EDT, Sunday, August 5 at Christian Lighthouse Church.

Mr. George Thomas Gay, 56, of Altha, FL passed away Friday night, August 3, 2012, in Panama City, FL.

George was born on January 19, 1956, in Jackson County and had lived in Altha all of his life. He worked in construction for a number of years and was of the Baptist Faith.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Malvenia Gay, and two brothers, Wesley and Eugene Gay.

Survivors include his father, George Benjamin Gay, of Altha; three brothers, Allen Grant Gay of Altha, James Harrell Gay of Marianna, FL, and Lamar Andrew Gay of Altha; three sisters, Malvenia Lorene Smith of Altha, Shirley Ruth Thornsbury of Highpoint, NC, and Janice Raylene Lee of Gloucester, VA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 8, at 11:00 am (CDT) at Altha First Baptist Church in Altha with Reverend Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 6:00 pm (CDT) until 8:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).

Mrs. Janice Laverne Money, 72, of Bristol, FL, passed away Saturday morning, August 4, 2012, in Blountstown, FL.

Janice was born on November 18, 1939, in Bristol and had lived here all of her life. She retired from the State of Florida where she worked for HRS. Janice was a member of Bristol Assembly of God Church in Bristol.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Money.

Survivors include one son, Tony Money, of Blountstown; two daughters, Debbie Shepard and her husband, Johnny, of Bristol, Dawn Murphy and her husband, Mike, of Bristol; one sister, Juacinta Copeland, of Bristol; grandchildren, Crystal Money Dalton, Jason Money, Trey Morris, Carli Lynn Money, Paige Shepard, Josh Shepard, Trevor Murphy and Wesley Sansom, Jr.; and a great-grandson, Caleb Dalton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10 am (EDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Coy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol. The family will receive friends Monday, August 6, from 5:00 pm (EDT) until 7:00 pm (EDT) at Peavy Funeral Home.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).

FCCLA Nationals was held in Orlando, Florida, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and Conference Center on July 7 – 12. Calhoun County had seven students attending – six for competitions and one as a Florida State Officer.
