A Tallahassee woman reported missing Monday has been found safe in Blountstown.
The Tallahassee Police Department Special Victims Unit posted a notice Monday seeking the whereabouts of 36 year old Melanie Davison. She reportedly required medication which she did not have with her, prompting immediate concern. The TPD report indicated she had been seen in Blountstown on Sunday.
Early Tuesday, Blountstown Fire Chief Ben Hall was in a local convenience store when a woman, later identified as Davison, approached him, then indicated she was lost and needed help. Chief Hall notified the Blountstown Police Department and Lt. Darryl Temple responded.
Davison told authorities she fell asleep in Destin and woke up in a wooded area near the convenience store on Central Avenue West. She said she had no idea how she got to Blountstown.
Davison was taken to the Blountstown Police Department and it was learned she had been reported missing by TPD. Her family was contacted and she was released to their custody.
Note: This is an online exclusive as information regarding this case did not come to light until after The County Record went to press Tuesday morning.
