Michael Daniel Bailes, age 66, of Altha passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Mike was born in Marianna, June 19, 1949, to the late Earnest and Ruth (Davis) Bailes. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later in life was a guard at Calhoun County Corrections for seventeen years. He was very active in the Veteran of Foreign Wars Liberty County Post and also served with the Honor Guard. He also was a guardian ad litem and was “Papa” to many children. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who especially liked to fish. He attended Abe Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, Earnest and Ruth Bailes, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn Davis, Earl Davis, Roy Davis, and George Davis; and a sister, Jeanette Ryals. Survivors include his wife, Etha Mae Bailes of Altha; his son, Michael Bailes, also of Altha; four daughters, Dianne Phillips of Panama City, Elisa Couch of Altha, Amanda Womble Bailes of Marianna, and Alena Bailes of Altha; one grandchild, Charlie Mayo; and a sister, Barbara Dale Bennett of Marianna. A memorial service is planned in the Chapel of Adams Funeral Home, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4 with Reverend Michael Morris officiating. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
