Mrs. Philomena Yolanda Chiachiarette Adkinson, 90, of Starke, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Bradford Terrace Nursing Home.
Mrs. Adkinson was born April 24, 1923, in Schenectady, New York, to the late Francesco and Maria Michela (Costantino) Chiachiarette and, at the age of 10, moved to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She had served in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1944 and being honorably discharged in 1950. Mrs. Adkinson has been a resident of Bradford County since 1965, moving from Blountstown and retiring from the Bradford County School System as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post in Starke, U.S. Navy WAVES Association, National Retired Teachers Association, and the Florida Retired Education Association.
Mrs. Adkinson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warney M. Adkinson, and their daughter, Dianne A. Williams, and her husband, Johann Meyer, of Valdosta, Georgia; a sister, Angelina C. DiNicola, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Micayle Baggett, husband, Eric, of Lawrenceville, GA, Kevin Williams, wife, Jenna, of Columbia, SC, Erin Taylor, husband, Shawn, of Palm Coast, FL; and four great grandchildren.
